If you have your own boat, you can launch it for free at the vermont fish & wildlife access area on the west shore of the lake. The 10 miles drive from idaho springs at the end of march was safe and easy. There is a lodge beside the lake which has a restaurant and gift store.

Before layering up and heading out, pop into a tackle shop for advice on the best places to go, the best bait to use and plenty of fish tales. Boat rental is also available at the park. Owned by denver mountain parks and is known for its excellent fishing (it is stocked yearly) and its picnic area at the north end of the lake. Williams still has ice on it, the plpoa lakes are open and fishing well with hatcher being the best. Anglers should refer to the official documentation for each lake or reservoir and know the rules for legal limits and allowed baits and fishing methods for any water they choose to fish.

There are two campgrounds in the vicinity. The echo lodge right after the lake is literally covered by ice, unreachable and so is the road to mount evans. All of the lake is fishable from the shore.

Its length is probably about 3/4 of a mile and is an easy walk. Echo lake is typically a good lake for rainbow trout and large yellow perch. If you would like to post a tournament, derby or other ice fishing events in your state, please register to become a member here.

Because of the reduced amenities we have lowered our entrance price. The arapaho and roosevelt national forests and pawnee national grassland offers diverse fishing fishing opportunities. Echo canyon reservoir lies within the hills of pagosa springs.
